Frequently Asked
Questions

Q: Why should I use International Vacations, Inc.?

A: International Vacations, Inc. is owned by John Przywara, founder and former president of D-FW Tours. Mr Przywara left the company after 26 years and formed International Vacations, Inc. upon the expiration of his non-compete clause. The company was formed as a streamlined consolidator that employees the latest in technology, Sabre GDS, Patheo booking engine and Northern Telecom voice over IP PBX system. The company's headquarter is in Dallas, Texas and staffing is both office and home based. The most important attribute of IVI, Inc. is the personal service provided by the reservations and support staff.

Q: What type of consolidator airfares do you sell?

A: The major type of airfare offered is net bulk contract fares. These fares are net contracts from major international airlines and are below the published prices except when short term specials are introduced by the carriers.

Q: What happens when the published sale fares are lower than the contract fares?

A: We are able to offer commissions on the published fares so you should always let us do your ticketing during these periods. Never turn away commissions from us when the airlines do not offer them when you ticket yourself.

Q: Are the fares quoted net or commissionable?

A: All fares are quoted at a net rate to you. In a recent survey sent to over 70,000 agents the respondents preferred net rates over commissionable rates by 79% to 21%.

Q: What if I want a commissionable rate?

A: No problem. Just tell the reservations agent of your preference and we will accommodate the request. International Vacations, Inc. is one of only a few companies that offers both commissionable or net fares .

Q: How does the travel agent make money?

A: If you are quoted a net rate then you simply advise the IVI reservations agent of the amount you wish to add to the ticket price. If you request a commissionable rate then you will be paid the standard 10% commission on the base fare. On published sale fares we will advise you of the commission percentage at the time the rate is requested.

Q: Do you charge additional for credit card transactions?

A: International Vacations, Inc. does not charge an extra fee for credit card transactions. All rates quoted are the same for any form of payment. Credit cards that are accepted include Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover Card. No third party credit cards are accepted for airline tickets (the card holder must be one of the ticketed travelers).

Q: When are tickets issued?

A: Tickets are issued on the day we receive payment and the tickets are sent out immediately. All tickets are electronic unless the issuing airline does not provide electronic capability.

Q: When are commission payments sent?

A: Commission checks are issued within 24 hours of ticketing. If you are paying by check, please remit the net amount to International Vacations, Inc.

Q: What about changes, cancellations or refunds?

A: Most tickets are changeable prior to departure, subject to a change fee and any airline penalties that may apply. Cancellation fees vary according to airlines and all cancellations must be made prior to the original departure time. Some tickets are non-refundable but may be used for future travel within one year and will incur an additional fee of $100 on most airlines. Failure to cancel reservations prior to departure or no-shows will not be eligible for any refund. Cancelled tickets must be returned to International Vacations, Inc. for processing. Once travel has commenced there are no refunds allowed however most returns may be changed by contacting the airline. Changes to return tickets are subject to the airline rules and will be subject to a change fee.

Q: Are frequent flier miles earned?

A: Most airlines allow the accrual of frequent flier mileage on consolidator tickets however most carriers do not allow frequent flier mileage to be used for upgrades of the current itinerary.
